1. Introduction

Welcome to MathBoard. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy explains how we handle information when you use our interactive digital whiteboard application.

2. Information We Collect

MathBoard is designed with privacy in mind. We collect minimal information:

2.1 Information Stored Locally

Important: Your drawings, formulas, typed text, and LaTeX stay on your device. MathBoard does not send board content as analytics metadata.

2.2 Product Analytics (Production Website)

On the production website (mathboard.app), MathBoard uses Simple Analytics to collect page views and counts of semantic product events (for example, which tools are used). Custom metadata may include functional categories and globals such as runtime and app_version. MathBoard does not introduce its own persistent user identifiers for these events.

For how Simple Analytics handles data, see their privacy policy.

2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

Simple Analytics may process technical data typical of privacy-focused web analytics (such as request metadata). MathBoard itself does not attach board content or MathBoard-created persistent user IDs to analytics events.

3. Cookies and Local Storage

MathBoard uses browser storage technologies for essential functionality:

3.1 Essential Local Storage

3.2 Cookies and Analytics

4. How We Use Your Information

Information is used to:

5. Data Security

Board content and preferences are stored locally on your device, so you retain control over that information. We recommend:

6. Data Retention and Deletion

You can delete local data at any time by:

Aggregate analytics retained by Simple Analytics follow that provider's retention practices, as described in their privacy policy.

7. Third-Party Services

On the production website, MathBoard uses Simple Analytics for cookieless product analytics (see section 2.2 and Simple Analytics privacy).

MathBoard may also contain links to external websites (such as donation platforms). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third-party sites. We encourage you to read their privacy policies.

8. Children's Privacy

MathBoard is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal identification information from children through the application itself. Board content stays local. On the production website, privacy-conscious product analytics may still record page views and semantic event counts as described in section 2.2; those events are not intended to identify individual children.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

10. GDPR Compliance

For users in the European Union, MathBoard aims to align with GDPR principles. Board content and preferences are stored locally on your device. Product analytics on the production website is limited to privacy-conscious page views and semantic event counts via Simple Analytics, without MathBoard-introduced persistent user identifiers. Depending on how analytics data is processed, certain GDPR obligations may apply to that processing. In any case:

11. California Privacy Rights

For California residents, under the CCPA: We do not sell your personal information. Board content and preferences remain on your device. Product analytics on the production website is limited as described in section 2.2.
